The Official Launch of UGAPAFOCI

In a significant stride towards harnessing the transformative power of culture and creativity, the Uganda Parliamentary Forum on Creative Industries (UGAPAFOCI) was officially launched with a commitment to contribute positively to the attainment of the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), peace, unity, security, and socio-economic transformation through cultural heritage and creativity.

The launch event, held great anticipation and enthusiasm, bringing together various stakeholders, including Members of Parliament, cultural leaders, artists, community representatives, and policymakers. The event underscored the critical role of creative industries in driving sustainable development and fostering national unity.

Speaking at the launch ceremony, Honorable Rachel Magoola, the Chairperson of the Forum, emphasized UGAPAFOCI’s mission to harness the potential of Uganda’s vibrant cultural landscape to address pressing socio-economic challenges and promote peace and unity across the nation. She underscored the importance of preserving and promoting cultural heritage as a catalyst for sustainable development, emphasizing that cultural diversity is a source of strength and resilience for the nation.

The launch featured a diverse program including traditional music and dance performances, art exhibitions, craft demonstrations, and interactive cultural dialogue and displays. Participants had the opportunity to engage in thought-provoking discussions and dialogues on the role of culture in achieving the SDGs, fostering peace and reconciliation, and driving socio-economic transformation.
